Tour description:
Arriving in Leipzig we will start a city tour with our coach or car. We pass by the zoo, the late baroque Gohliser
Castle and we will see the beautiful architecture of the Wilhelminian era in the Waldstrasse district. In Plagwitz,
an area monument of the industrial age, the Karl-Heine Canal and the White Elster river flow between renovated
former factory buildings. A little Venice for rowing boats, canoes and boat trips. We make a short stop at the old
Cotton Mill. We continue with the Musicians' Quarter and the building of the Federal Administrative Court. Then
we drive along the Bavarian Railway Station and the Old Fair Grounds. We will stop at the Monument to the Battle
of the Nations. In 1813 Napoleon suffered a heavy defeat in Leipzig. Our ride ends with a visit to the Thomaskirche.
The tomb of Johann Sebastian Bach is located inside.
We proceed with a walk from the Thomaskirchhof over the passages along Grimmaische Strasse to the Nikolai
Church and Augustus Square with the opera and the Gewandhaus. After that, you have time to eat something and discover the city by yourself. If you are a lover of classical music, you can visit the Bach Museum or the exhibitions
in the Mendelssohn House or the Schumann House.
